The Canisius softball team dropped both games on Sunday on the final day of the CSU Dome Tournament, hosted by Cleveland State. The Golden Griffins lost the first game of the day to Toledo by the score of 6-2, then fell to Bowling Green 16-1 in five innings. Canisius is 0-4 on the year.
In the first game, the Rockets (2-3) broke the game open with two runs in the bottom of the fourth, and then added four more run through the next two frames to take a 6-0 lead after six innings of play. Canisius got on the scoreboard in the top of the seventh after sophomore Sarah Andrews collected her first career RBI with a base hit and senior Michelle DelPrince drove in a run with a sac-fly to center. Canisius tallied six hits in the loss, with juniors Meghan Cuda and Alexis Roman each having multi-hit games.
In the second game, Bowling Green (2-1) scored 10 runs in the first and never looked back. The Falcons banged out 11 hits in the win and took advantage of nine walks. Canisius sophomore Lindsey Silfer had two hits, including a double, and fellow sophomore Samantha Sharkey also had a double in the loss for the Blue and Gold.
Canisius will return to action Feb. 13-15 at the NCCU Eagle Challenge in Durham, N.C. The Griffs will play the host NCCU Eagles Feb. 13, at 2 p.m.
