No. 13 Louisville Defeats Griffs

The Golden Griffins women's lacrosse team traveled to Louisville, Ky., on Saturday afternoon to play the No. 13 ranked team in the country and despite a strong effort by the Blue and Gold the Louisville Cardinals defeated Canisius 15-3.

With the loss, Canisius moves to 0-3 on the season after playing two nationally ranked opponents, including No. 3 Syracuse twice. Louisville improves to 2-0 on the year after defeating Canisius.

The Griffs were led by senior attacker Tori Quinn who had two of the teams three goals. Quinn also had one ground ball and three caused turnovers. The senior has put together a strong season so far scoring seven goals, recording four assists and also recording six ground balls and five caused turnovers, all against nationally ranked teams.

Canisius' other goal came from fellow attacker Taylor Giglio, her second of the season. Freshman Rebecca VanLaeken got the start in goal for Canisius and the goalkeeper made the most of it. VanLaeken played the whole game and recorded 14 saves in her first collegiate start.

The Griffs next game will be against Yale when the team travels to New Haven, Conn. on March 1.
