Canisius women's soccer fell to Pacific in the first game of the team's California road trip, by a final score of 2-1.
The Pacific Tigers managed to strike first in the game, netting the first goal at the nine minute mark, taking a 1-0 lead into the half.
Canisius would strike back at the 60 minute mark, on a goal by sophomore Callie Good, her first collegiate goal. Good's goal was assisted by Maria Nelms and Mallory Lilly. The home-team Tigers didn't let the game stay tied for long, as Taylor Ayers scored the game-winner during the 61st minute.
Junior goalkeeper Kailee De Franks saw her first action of the season, recording five saves in her 45 minutes of play. De Franks would receive the loss on the day, after allowing in the game winner.
The Golden Griffs are now 1-4-0 on the season and will look to bounce back on Sunday, when the team takes on Sacramento State at 3:00 p.m.
Game Notes: This was the first time Canisius played Pacific in women's soccer... Sunday's game against Sacramento State will be the first time the Griffs and Hornets meet in women's soccer as well… With her first goal of the 2014 season, and first collegiate goal, sophomore Callie Good is now tied for the team lead in goals and points…Goalie Kailee De Franks saw her first action in goal since her freshman season….
