Freshman goalie Reilly Turner of the Canisius College hockey team continued the strong start to his collegiate career in a pair of games against Air Force last weekend and was honored with Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Week honors, announced by the conference on Tuesday.
In a pair of games against the Falcons, Turner recorded 45 saves, including 29 stops in a 3-1 victory on Friday.
In seven appearances during his freshman campaign, Turner owns a 3-2-2 record with a 2.29 goals against average and .922 save percentage, ranking fourth nationally among rookie netminders in both categories. In Atlantic Hockey games only, Turner places second in the conference with a 1.91 goals against average and fourth with a .930 save percentage, while posting a 3-1-2 record.
Turner and the Griffs continue Atlantic Hockey play this weekend with a pair of home games against AIC at HARBORCENTER. The schools being the two-game set on Friday at 7:35 p.m.
