“Getting road wins in three sets is always a good thing,” Canisius coach Cathy Hummel said. “We were able to get everyone some playing time as our reserves learned a little bit about themselves. We also were able to test out some new lineups to get us ready for the postseason.”
Canisius broke open the first set by scoring seven of 10 points to build a 15-11 lead, getting two kills from Kline, Tyler and Siebert during the spurt. Canisius put the set away on another kill from Kline.
The second set featured seven set points from Quinnipiac (2-28, 0-17 MAAC) and five set points for Canisius. After a kill from sophomore Jacklyn Malusa gave Canisius its first set point at 24-23, a service error knotted the score. The teams would then trade side-outs until kills from Tyler and Siebert put Canisius up 32-31. The Griffs didn't give up the advantage and cashed in on their third opportunity with a kill from Tyler.
A four-point run midway through the third set, including two kills from sophomore Gabrielle Vetere gave Canisius a 17-12 lead as the Griffs went on to close out the set and the match.
