Senior Cody Freeman added additional honors on Wednesday when he was named the Second Star of the Week nationally by NCAA.com after leading the Canisius College hockey team to a sweep over conference foe AIC.

Freeman totaled four points, three goals and one assist in two games against the Yellow Jackets, including the game-winning tally in each contest. He scored a third-period goal in Friday's 3-1 victory and then followed it up by matching a career high with three points in Saturday's win. After helping tie the game with an assist, Freeman netted two third-period goals to give Canisius a 3-1 advantage in the eventual 4-2 victory.

The Toronto native, who was also named Atlantic Hockey Player of the Week on Tuesday, leads the Griffs with seven points this season, netting three goals to go along with four assists. In 99 career games, the senior has totaled 56 points, 26 goals and 30 assists.

Freeman and the Griffs now turn their focus toward opening their new facility at HARBORCENTER. The team begins play at the new downtown facility on Friday and Saturday against Ohio State with both games slated to begin at 7:35 p.m.
