Senior goaltender Tony
Capobianco of the Canisius College hockey team is among the players
nominated for the Hobey Baker Award, handed out to the nation's top player.

The first phase ends March 10 and the list will be narrowed down to 10
semifinalists with the second phase beginning on March 22.
Capobianco is enjoying one of the best seasons in the
country this season. The anchor of the nation's fifth-ranked scoring defense,
Capobianco places seventh in Division I with a .939 save percentage plus 10th
with 1.86 goals against average. Both numbers rank first in the program's record
book, surpassing the current marks set by Sean Weaver in 1999-00 (.927 save
percentage and 2.37 goals against average).
During his career, Capobianco has appeared in 48 games with
a 2.55 goals against average and .924 save percentage. He is the current leader
in both categories, topping the marks held by Bryan Worosz (2.82 goals against
average) and Andrew Loewen (.913 save percentage).
Capobianco and the Griffs return to the ice on Friday,
playing at Sacred Heart. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m.
