Former Golden Griffin standout Cory Conacher '11 has continued to impress in his first season away from Canisius, being voted a starter to the 2012 AHL All-Star Classic this week.
The most prolific scorer in the Canisius College hockey program's history, Conacher has enjoyed a lot of success in his first season with the Norfolk Admirals, the top affiliate of the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning. The Burlington, Ontario native currently leads all players in the league with 24 goals and ranks fifth overall (first among rookies) with 46 points.
In his four-year standout career with the Golden Griffins, Conacher set or matched 12 career, single-season and single-game records. The 2009-10 Atlantic Hockey Player of the Year owns the program's standards of 147 points, 62 goals and 12 game-winning tallies. He also set the school's records with 53 points and 33 assists during his junior campaign, while breaking the goals mark with 23 in his senior year.
Conacher is a member of the Eastern Conference roster at the 2012 AHL All-Star Classic, which is set to take place on Jan. 30 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J.
