Canisius College women's lacrosse head coach Scott Teeter led the Canadian National
Team to a bronze medal at the 2011 Under-19 World Championship. Canada defeated
England, 14-5, in the bronze medal game to match the team's highest finish.
"Today we played a complete game," Teeter said. "I was very
proud of how the girls played on little rest and a very tough game last night.
Today was the best game that we played in the tournament from all 18 girls. I
am very happy to see them bring home the bronze medal."
Against England, Canada jumped out to a 7-0 lead and never
looked back en route to the 14-5 victory. It marks the third time that Canada
earned the bronze medal at the U19 Championship, duplicating the feat from 1999
and 2003.
On Friday, the Canadians nearly rallied from a nine-goal
deficit before falling to Australia in the semifinals. After a long delay due
to inclement weather, Australia took an 11-2 lead and held on after a Canadian
comeback attempt for a 14-10 victory.
Teeter has had a very successful 2011 year so far. Not only
did he lead his native Canada to its best finish at the World Championship but
he also helped Canisius earn its first MAAC Championship in May.
