A total of 15 Canisius College student-athletes were honored
for their work off the ice on Thursday, earning Atlantic Hockey All-Academic
Team accolades. Freshman Ryan Bohrer highlighted the selections, picking up Academic
All-Star honors.
Bohrer was selected to the Academic All-Star Team for owning
the top GPA at his position. The freshman forward earned a perfect 4.0 GPA
during the 2010-11 season, while recording 12 points, five goals and seven
assists in 37 games.
Joining Bohrer on the All-Academic Team include seniors Phil Rauch and Matt Zuke, who each
earned the distinction in all four of their seasons at Canisius. Redshirt
senior Chris Forsman was also named to the team for the fourth time in his
career.
Seniors Cory Conacher and Scott
Jenks plus junior Scott Moser all picked up the accolade for the
third time, while senior Derek Danowski
and sophomores Torrey
Lindsay, Ben
Parker and Preston
Shupe were each named to the all-academic team for
a second time.
Five student-athletes were named to the team in their first
season with the Griffs, including Bohrer, Ben
Danford, Kyle
Gibbons, Taylor Law and Jordan
Mustard.
To qualify for the Atlantic Hockey All-Academic Team, an
individual must post a 3.0 grade point average or higher in each academic
semester during the 2010-11 year.
Canisius returns 15 letterwinners from the 2010-11 team that
advanced to the Atlantic Hockey Quarterfinals.
