Canisius
College signee Kayla Hoohuli has
been named to the PARADE Magazine girls basketball All-America Team. The St.
Marys, Pa. native was one of 40 players from across the country to be named to
the team.
Hoohuli
was selected as the Class AAA Player of the Year by Pennsylvania sports writers
and also earned First-Team All-State pick as a junior. The 5-foot-10 guard
finished as the third all-time leading scorer in District 9 with 2,604 career
points. Hoohuli averaged 28.4 points per game as a senior, 10.2 rebounds, 7.5
steals, 4.3 assists and 3.8 blocks per game as a senior and averaged 26 points
per game in her career. She also set school records with 52 points in a game
and 757 points in a season.
Hoohuli is part of a four-player incoming
recruiting class that joins seven returning letterwinners from the 2010-11
Golden Griffin team.
