Junior midfielder Adam
Jones and senior defender Matt Barkas of the Canisius College men's
lacrosse team both earned All-MAAC honors, announced on Thursday. Jones was
named to the All-MAAC First Team, while Barkas earned second-team accolades.
Jones led the Canisius offense with 40 points, 25 goals and a
career-high 15 assists during the 2010 season. A member of the All-MAAC First
Team in each of his three seasons, the junior led all midfielders in the
conference in both points per game and goals per game.
During his career, Jones has accumulated 125 points, 96
goals and 29 assists. He currently ranks 11th in the program's history in
career points and sixth in career goals.
Barkas earned second-team all-conference honors for the
second-straight season. He collected a team-high 45 ground balls and finished
second on the squad with 15 caused turnovers. The senior defender also added
three goals in 2010.
A total of nine Griffs were also honored by the conference
for their work away from the field. Barkas and Jones were joined by seniors James McCready and John Minieri and
sophomores Mike Allaire, Kyle Bell,
Travis Gibbons,
Joe Greenwald and Justin Maderer on the MAAC All-Academic Team.
