Canisius College women's basketball freshman Jamie Ruttle (Burlington, Ontario) was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week on Monday. It's the third consecutive week that a Canisius freshman won the award as Jen Lennox received the honor on Nov. 22.

Ruttle led Canisius by averaging 8.0 points and 9.5 rebounds in two games last week while also recording two blocks. The 6-foot-4 forward had nine points and eight rebounds against Buffalo and then had seven points to go along with a career-high 10 rebounds against Duquesne. Ruttle has posted eight or more rebounds in three straight games and scored at least seven points in four straight games.

Ruttle is averaging 8.5 points in the last four games and averaging 8.7 rebounds during the past three games.

Canisius starts a four-game road trip on Tuesday, when the Golden Griffins play at St. Bonaventure. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
