Canisius College women's basketball freshman Jamie Ruttle (Burlington, Ontario) was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday. It's the second consecutive week that a Canisius freshman won the award as Jen Lennox received the honor last week.

Ruttle posted career highs with 11 points and eight rebounds in the Griffs' 58-52 win over Towson on Saturday. The 6-foot-4 forward went 4-for-6 from the floor and also was 3-for-4 from the free-throw line in the final 30 seconds to preserve the win.

Ruttle is averaging 6.0 points and 3.8 rebounds per game while averaging 16.5 minutes per contest and shooting 45 percent from the floor. In the last two games, Ruttle is averaging 9.0 points and shooting 58 percent overall.

Canisius continues its three-game homestand on Wednesday, when the Golden Griffins host Buffalo. Tipoff in the Koessler Athletic Center was set for 7 p.m.
