Conacher Leads Team Canada to Gold

Canisius hockey standout Cory Conacher led Canada to the gold medal at the recent Inline Hockey World Championship, held in Slovakia.

The rising sophomore recorded 21 points in six games to lead the Canadian offense during the championship. Canada won the gold medal with a 7-4 victory over England.

In 20 games during his rookie season with the Griffs, Conacher recorded 17 points on seven goals and 10 assists. A two-time Atlantic Hockey Rookie of the Week, Conacher led Canisius with .85 points per game in his first season and was also named to the Atlantic Hockey All-Academic Team.

Conacher and the Griffs open the season Oct. 5 with an exhibition game against Ontario before beginning the regular season on Oct. 10 versus Ferris State. Canisius returns 22 letterwinners from the 2007-08 team that finished sixth in the Atlantic Hockey standings and set or tied four team and individual records.
