Women's Lacrosse Signs Ashley Pokorski

Canisius College women's lacrosse coach Scott Teeter announced today that Ashley Pokorski (Buffalo, N.Y.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Golden Griffins, beginning in the 2006-07 season.

A 5-foot-6 attack out of Lancaster High School, Pokorski was recently named All-ECIC Division I Honorable Mention. She scored a school record 64 goals as a junior en route to earning first-team All-Western New York and first-team All-ECIC Division I honors. Pokorski was also named All-ECIC Honorable Mention as a sophomore.

“Ashley is a proven scorer with some great offensive ability,” said Teeter. “She will be an excellent addition to our roster and continues our success of recruiting local products.”

Pokorski joins Alyson Brown (Henrietta, N.Y.) and Alison Rusak (Orangeville, Ontario) to make up the 2006 recruiting class along with Marissa Brown (Syracuse, N.Y.) and Brett Poissant (Syracuse, N.Y.), who were recently named to the All-Central New York team.

The Golden Griffins finished the 2005 season with a 12-7 record and advanced to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament championship game for the first time in school history. Canisius returns 21 letter winners and nine starters, including eight of its top-nine scorers, from last season.
