Shannon Cohen begins her second season on the Canisius College women's basketball staff after playing four seasons at conference rival Loyola College. The former point guard serves as the perimeter player coach, while also acting as the Griffs' compliance liaison. Cohen takes part in day-to-day operations of the program and is responsible for film exchange with opponents.
The Timonium, Md., native was a two-time Loyola College Defensive Player of the Year. Cohen was a member of the 1998-99 Loyola team that finished a school best 21-7. The Greyhounds set the tone that season with a 50-43 upset win over Maryland in the season opener, and went on to finish 13-5 in the MAAC.
Cohen graduated from Loyola in 2001, with a bachelor's degree in history and a minor in secondary education. She is currently working towards her master's degree in physical education and lives in Cheektowaga.
