Lindsay Matikosh joins the Canisius College volleyball coaching staff and begins her first year on the bench after closing out her playing career last fall at the University at Buffalo. Matikosh will handle the team's outside hitters and scout future opponents.
A four-year letterwinner at the University at Buffalo, Matikosh finished her career with 1,450 kills and 1,414 digs, which ranks second on UB's all-time career lists. She was honored as the team's Most Valuable Player three years in a row and was named the Bulls' top newcomer after posting 278 kills and 299 digs in her freshman season.
The North Tonawanda, N.Y., native played in 455 career games and became the fourth player in program history to reach the 1,000-mark in career kills and digs. Matikosh posted a career-high 29 kills and 23 digs against Binghamton during the 2002 season, making her the sixth player in school history to post 20 or more kills and digs in the same match. She was a member of the Empire State Games Western Open team that won the gold medal in both 2002 and 2003 and won three-straight Class A state championships at North Tonawanda High School.
Matikosh graduated from Buffalo in May with her degree in social science interdisciplinary with a concentration in early childhood education.
