Sarah Boeckel is beginning her second season as an assistant coach for the Canisius College volleyball team. Boeckel joined head coach Cathy Hummel's staff after serving as a varsity coach at Sweet Home High School in Amherst, N.Y. She will specialize in coaching the outside hitters, as well as deal with the day-to-day operations of the volleyball program.
Boeckel graduated from Stony Brook University in 1999 with her degree in social science interdisciplinary. Boeckel played collegiate volleyball with former Canisius assistant coach Mary Schelp, and put her name in the Seawolves' record books as the all-time leader in assists for a single-season and for a career.
Boeckel has coached with the Cheetah volleyball program for the last four years and has also served as an assistant coach for the Western open team in the 2003 Empire State Games that won a gold medal.
Boeckel enjoys traveling and playing golf and tennis in her free time. She is currently pursuing her master's degree in education at Canisius.
