Sam Hughes enters his second year as a graduate assistant with Athletic Communications at Canisius. He serves as the primary contact for the Golden Griffins' volleyball, women's basketball, women's lacrosse, and rowing programs.
Hughes graduated cum laude from Bowling Green State University in 2024 with a major in sport management and a minor in marketing. He also held a leadership position with the Sport Management Alliance, a student-run pre-professional organization which aimed to provide students with professional development opportunities which included working two Super Bowls, LVII and LVIII, as an operations supervisor.
At Bowling Green, he began his career as a student intern with the Strategic Communications department for two years. During that time, he served as the primary contact for the men's and women's cross country teams.
In his senior year, Hughes spent a semester working at the University of Toledo as an athletic communications student intern while studying at Bowling Green.
Hughes has previously worked with the Syracuse Mets, the Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets, helping produce games on MiLBtv and MLBtv, a position he held from March 2021 to August 2023.
A native of Manlius, N.Y., Sam is pursuing his masters degree in sport administration.
