Kimberly Gehl enters her first year as part of the Golden Griffin coaching staff after a stellar playing career at Houghton College, NY. She spent last year as the Assistant Women’s Soccer coach at Urbana University under head coach Jim Wendling. Urbana ended last season with a record of 15-5. Gehl, a 2007 graduate of Houghton College, brings a great deal of experience and success with her.
Gehl, who played primarily sweeper, was a four-year starter and senior captain for the Highlanders, who were continuously ranked in the top five in the country in the NAIA for much of her collegiate career. In her senior year, the Highlanders spent time ranked at No. 1 in the country. In her four years, Gehl enjoyed four trips to the National Tournament and received numerous awards such as first team All-Conference, first team All-Region, and was named an All-American. In addition to playing soccer, Gehl was also a member of the Houghton varsity track team.
She graduated from Houghton with a degree in physical education and is currently finishing her Masters degree in physical education at Canisius. Gehl is the daughter of Tom and Cindy Gehl of Belmont, N.Y.
