Jackie Reed is in her second season as an assistant coach on the Canisius volleyball staff. The former two-time team captain graduated from the College in 2004 after playing two seasons as the Golden Griffins' setter. She will specialize in coaching the team's service reception and outside hitters, while also dealing with the day-to-day operations of the program.
Reed transferred to Canisius after playing her first two seasons at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va. She played in 223 career games at Canisius, where she collected 2,331 career assists, which ranks second all-time in program history. During her senior season in 2003, Reed averaged 11.11 assists per game, which ranked first in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, and made her the first Canisius player in school history to lead the conference in that category. She posted 50-plus assists in nine matches, with a career-high 63 assists coming against Syracuse during the 2002 season.
Prior to joining the Canisius team, Reed was a defensive specialist at James Madison and was a member of the Dukes' 2000 squad, which won the Colonial Athletic Association title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. She won five varsity letters in high school at Westhampton Beach, and was named the conference's Rookie of the Year as an eighth grader in 1996.
Reed graduated from Canisius in 2004 with her degree in elementary education with a concentration in mathematics. She is currently working towards her master's degree in special education at the College.
