Hannah Blum joined the Canisius coaching staff in January of 2017. Blum comes back to Canisius after graduating in the summer of 2016.
“Hannah is the perfect fit to join our coaching staff, and I am thrilled to have her back at Canisius,” Neppel said. “Not only has Hannah recently graduated after four years as an athlete in this system, she is a decorated and experienced coxswain who commands the highest level of performance from those around her”
Blum offers a wealth of experience to the Canisius program, proving to be a high school and college standout at West Side Rowing Club and at Canisius.
Blum is a four-time veteran of the Head of the Charles, competing once in high school and three times as a member of the Blue and Gold, notching a seventh place finish as her biggest accomplishment on that particular stage.
“Hannah is professional, organized, knows how we operate, and I trust her implicitly to get things done,” Neppel said. “As a coxswain here at Canisius, she was respected by all of her teammates for her competitiveness, skill, attention to safety, and work ethic, and I see her making an awesome transition into the coaching role.”
She also helped the Canisius varsity eight tally top-3 finishes in 2013 and 2016, guiding her boat to third-place in 2013 and helping the Blue and Gold record its best finish at the conference championship last season.
At West Side Rowing Clup she was a two-time recipient of the Mary Clare kane award, bestowed upon the Coxswain of the Year.
Blum was a four-year member of the Canisius program, graduating Cum Laude in 2016.
