Chris Barry, an Orchard Park native and Canisius High School graduate, joins the Canisius baseball staff as an assistant coach for his second season. Barry will coach the outfielders and assist with hitting instruction.
He spent the 2005 campaign as an assistant coach at Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference champion Marist, where he coached first base and served as a hitting instructor. The Red Foxes finished the campaign with a 33-21 record and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
Barry earned a bachelor's degree in 2003 from George Washington University, where he played baseball for four seasons. He finished his career with the Colonials ranked in the top-10 in home runs, total bases, runs and stolen bases. From there, he signed a contract with Cooke County, an independent team in the Frontier League before coaching at Marist.
