Riley Lucarelli

Riley Lucarelli '20 enters her third season as director of lacrosse operations coach and fifth season on the coaching staff overall with the Canisius women's lacrosse program.

Lucarelli stayed on Main Street after a fabulous playing career to serve as a graduate assistant. She held that role for two seasons before moving into the director of lacrosse operations role.

"Riley has proven herself to be a tremendous leader on the field during her time at Canisius and now I'm excited to see her step into a mentoring role as a coach," Allen said. "Her work ethic and positive attitude will be valued on our coaching staff."

A three-time team captain, Lucarelli takes on her new role with the Golden Griffins after spending the previous five seasons (2017-2021) as a defensive anchor for the program. In 71 appearances, Lucarelli contributed 91 ground balls, 43 caused turnovers, and 39 draw controls.  She was a two-time All-MAAC honoree, including a first-team selection in 2021.

"I'm extremely excited to join Coach Allen and Coach Roemer," Lucraelli said.  "I'm so grateful to be a part of this coaching staff and the school that I love for another year. Once a Griff, Always a Griff."

The Lancaster, N.Y., native graduated from the College in 2020 with her undergraduate degree in health and wellness and is currently pursuing her master's degree in physical education from Canisius.
