Biography

2007: Started 47 games for Canisius... Led the team with her .371 (52-for-140) batting average... Recorded nine doubles, seven homers, five triples and 27 RBIs... Set a school record with 44 runs scored... Was named first-team All-MAAC after she hit .432 (19-for-44) with five doubles, five home runs, 19 runs scored and 14 runs batted in against MAAC opponents... Batted .400 (4-for-10) with four RBIs and two runs scored en route to being named to the MAAC All-Tournament Team for the second-straight season... Went 3-for-4 with three runs batted in and two runs scored in Canisius' come-from-behind win over Saint Peter's in the MAAC Tournament, highlighted by the game-winning single in the bottom of the seventh inning... Had the team's only hit against Cal State Fullerton in the NCAA Tournament... Led the Griffs in seven offensive categories, including batting average, runs, slugging percentage (.657), on-base percentage (.461), triples (9), home runs (7) and total bases (92)... Ranked fifth on the team in fielding chances (127) and third in fielding assists (60)... Posted a .913 fielding percentage at shortstop... Earned MAAC All-Academic honors for the second-straight season... Earned her second national academic honor after being named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District I first team.

2006: Led Canisius in 10 different offensive categories en route to being named first-team All-MAAC by the league's coaches... Hit .402 (66-for-164) with 13 doubles, four triples, four homers and 18 RBIs... Her 66 hits set a new single-season program record for hits collected in a year... Ranked fourth in the MAAC in batting average and fifth in the league in on-base percentage (.459)... Hit .458 (22-for-48) with 13 runs scored, six doubles and eight RBIs in 16 MAAC games... Hit safely in 22-straight games from April 1-May 6, the longest hitting streak of her career... Led the team with 99 total bases, while also leading the squad in slugging percentage (.605) and stolen bases (12)... Had 18 multi-hit games... Scored multiple runs in nine different games, highlighted by her career high three runs scored in the team's 5-4 win over Maine... Hit a team best .432 (19-for-44) with runners in scoring position... Hit .414 (29-for-70) with runners on base... Was credited with 83 assists and 102 putouts in the field to go with her .964 fielding percentage... Was one of three MAAC players to be named to the 2006 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Mid-Atlantic All-Region first team... Was also recognized for her work in the classroom, earning MAAC All-Academic and CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine All-Academic All-District I second team honors... Was Canisius' lone representative on the MAAC All-Tournament Team after hitting .500 (3-for-6) with a stolen base in the Griffs' two postseason games.

2005: One of six Griffs to play in all 41 games, making 41 starts at second base... Registered her first collegiate hit in her first collegiate game against UNC Wilmington... Hit safely in 11-straight games from March 25-April 11... Her team leading four triples was tops in the MAAC... Hit her first collegiate triple against Niagara... Went 1-for-3 in her first NCAA Tournament game against Michigan... Had nine multi-hit games, which tied her for second on the team... Walked 15 times... Her .980 fielding percentage was tops among Canisius' regular infielders.

Before Canisius: Was named the 2004 New York State Player of the Year and the 2004 Western New York Player of the Year after her senior season at North Tonawanda High School... Won a total of 13 varsity letters at North Tonawanda High in softball, basketball and volleyball... Hit over .400 in six seasons as a varsity softball player... Was fourth-team All-Western New York in basketball and scored over 1,000-career points, making her the school's first female 1,000 point scorer.  

Personal: The daughter of Keith and Nancy Miranto, Katie is a business major at Canisius... Has an older brother Michael and a twin brother, Scott.
