Former Rutgers standout Kris Alleyne joined the Canisius men’s lacrosse program as an assistant coach in August, 2018.

In his role with the Golden Griffins, Alleyne works with the goaltenders and assists with game planning and recruiting.

In his first season on Main Street, Alleyne helped mentor senior goalie Brad Nordstrom, who anchored a Griffs’ defense unit that ranked 17th nationally in scoring defense (10.17).

An All-MAAC Second Team selection, Nordstrom ranked among the top-15 goalies nationally in both goals against average (9.96) and save percentage (.545). Nordstrom, a graduate transfer from Fairfield, was a four-time MAAC Defensive Player of the Week selection and also garnered USILA Team-of-the-Week honors after recording a career-high 16 saves in Canisius’ 8-6 victory over nationally-ranked Colgate at the Demske Sports Complex.

A four-year letterwinner with the Scarlet Knights, Alleyne appeared in 53 contests, posting a 10.40 goals against average and a .522 save percentage while recording 545 saves, the fifth most in school history.

The 2013 BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year and All-BIG EAST First Team honoree, Alleyne was a seventh-round draft pick of the Rochester Rattlers of Major League Lacrosse. He played for the Rattlers during the 2017 season, recording a season-high 15 saves in his debut against the Florida Launch. He returned to the MLL as a member of the Dallas Rattlers for the 2019 season.

Prior to joining the Canisius staff, Alleyne gained valuable coaching experience when he served as an assistant coach with the Puerto Rico National Team during the 2018 FIL World Championship, helping to guide the squad to an eighth-place finish in its inaugural appearance in the event.
