1. Why did you choose to attend Canisius?When I came on my official visit to Canisius the team immediately made me feel like I was apart of their family. I knew that Canisius could be a place where I would be able to eventually call it home. I also loved the small class sizes and being able to converse with my professors at any point in time. In college I wanted to make sure that I would be able to form relationships with good people and Canisius just felt like the place I would be able to do that.
2. What is your favorite part about Buffalo?Definitely would have to say Allen and Elmwood! The culture of these two streets is unbelievable. I always meet very interesting and nice people to talk to while I walk up and down these strips. Spot Coffee on Elmwood is where I spend many hours studying and writing papers. If you are ever in town check out these streets, in the day or the night, anytime they are great!
3. What are three words that you’d use to describe yourself?If I had to describe myself only using three words I would say: honest, focused and caring (I am often considered the “mother” of the team).
4. What is your favorite T.V. show? What was your favorite T.V. show as a kid?I can’t say I have a favorite T.V. show just because I like so many so I will just list a few: Grey’s Anatomy, Breaking Bad, Lost, Prison Break, Pretty Little Liars and Game of Thrones. As a child, I absolutely loved watching Recess.
6. Do you and your teammates have an activity that you like to do outside of your sport? If so, what is it?I can’t say that I engage in this activity because my memory for movie lines is not the greatest but my teammates will spend countless hours quoting various lines from a wide range of movies, such as Mean Girls, Norbit, Brides Maids, Pitch Perfect. It is absolutely hilarious to watch and listen to.
7. What is your pregame ritual, routine or superstition?Before every game I will straighten my hair just because I find it extremely relaxing and it always puts me in a good mood. Then I will listen to a variety of songs but I will always end with “Many the Miles” by Sara Bareilles, you can ask Allison Braun why it is this particular song.
8. What is your favorite quote or phrase?Favorite phrase is “Embrace every moment.” It is very hard for me sometimes to stay in the present and appreciate the little things or moments that are happening around me. Often times I want to think about the future or the past and sometimes I miss out on the present. Therefore, I constantly remind myself to “Embrace every moment” throughout the day because in the end that is all we are truly guareenteed.
9. What is one interesting thing that someone may not know about you?I am addicted to picking nail polish off my nails. My class (Courtney Vandebovenkamp, Jamie Ruttle, Jen Morabito) has always painted our nails for every home game since freshmen year. An hour or two after the game you wouldn’t have even known that my nails were painted.
10. What’s your favorite movie?I don’t have a favorite one but I love all Pixar and Disney movies. No matter how I am feeling these movies can always put me in a great mood. Some of my recent favorites are Monsters University, Rio and How to Train a Dragon.
