Canisius College Women's Basketball Italian Tour 2009- Day Six
San Marino is without a doubt my favorite place thus far. Ellie, Monica and I share a little room and hardly fit with all of our luggage and gear. Today we started our day off with a short tour with Laura of beautiful San Marino. We learned that San Marino is its own republic and a beautiful little country. Our tour guide was a cute little short Italian lady who had a little bit of trouble at first talking in English but after a little while did just fine. We toured the capital of San Marino and ran up to the highest point of the country. By then we were all dripping sweat from racing up this gigantic hill, but the view and the pictures we got were well worth it. After our tour we came back to the hotel and got ready for the beach. It was about a 45-minute drive to the beach and it was absolutely beautiful, and HOT! The water was amazing and the sand was so clean. It felt like silk between the toes. Britt, Monica, Steph and I were playing a game in the water and were then joined by Lozar, Abby and Quinn. We played 500 for at least a half hour and had some funny laughs. Venturing down the beach we ran into the rest of the squad and tanned and went into the water with them. It was extremely hot out and we all thought the water would cool us off, but it was honestly 10 degrees cooler than it was outside.
After the beach we headed back to the hotel and then to practice. We were all a little rusty at first, the floors were a little slippery but we got through practice and ended with an abdominal and pushup workout, which everyone but coach Zeh participated in (since he got to run the workout). Heading back to the hotel it was around 7:50 and we went straight to dinner. We were all acting extremely goofy and having a little bit too much fun tonight. There was a beautiful sunset and we all took a bunch of great photos of it. The scenery of San Marino is unbelievable and so beautiful, and I have not felt this safe since I have been home. Steph got completely fried today and so did Abby, but for the most part everyone got a lot of sun today. On Wednesday, we are heading off to Tuscany for a pizza-making lesson and to view Montectini.
Ciao!
