Cross Country Kicks off Season Hosting the Little Three Championships

The Canisius men's and women's cross country teams kick off their season Saturday with their annual appearance hosting the Little Three Championships in Buffalo, N.Y.

The women's 5k is slated for 10:45 a.m., while the men's 5k is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. at Delaware Park.

The Golden Griffin men took home first place in last year's race and are looking to grab their 20th straight Little Three title, while the women have their sights on a fifth title in the last six seasons.

This season, the Griffs welcome 16 newcomers to the 2026-27 roster, with nine on the women's team and seven on the men's team.

The Canisius men are returning five runners who placed in the top 10 of last season's race. Sophomore Nathaniel Fisher (14:52.4) took fourth in the season-opening race. The Griffs rounded out the top 10 as sophomore Daniel Granville (15:16.1) and juniors Ryan Giglia (15:16.4), Fenway Breckels (15:18.7), and Adam Kozman (15:20.5) finished in spots 7-10 in the race.

On the women's side, junior Clara Sundberg took home a second-place finish last season with her time of 18:30.4. Sophomore Julia Gullo placed fourth in her collegiate debut (18:53.4), as the Griffs return two of their top ten finishers on the women's side.
