Finalists For Canisius Female Rookie of the Year Announced

The finalists for the 2025-26 Canisius Female Rookie of the Year have been announced. Fans are encouraged to vote for their favorite finalist through 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 11. The winner will be announced on Friday, June 12.

In alphabetical order, the finalists are:
 
Madi Cowan – Volleyball
• Named to All-MAAC Rookie Team
• Started all 31 matches
• Ranked second on the Griffs in total kills (284) and led the team in kills per set (2.56)
• Notched fourth most kills in a season by a freshman in program history
• Recorded 18 kills in back-to-back matches against Merrimack (Nov. 14) and Quinnipiac (Nov. 15) to earn MAAC Rookie of the Week honors

Ella Forcucci – Women's Lacrosse
• Selected as the program's fourth MAAC Rookie of the Year
• Named to All-MAAC Rookie Team and All-MAAC First Team 
• Appeared in all 17 games, making 13 starts
• Established the program record for goals (51) and points (67) by a freshman
• Won eight weekly conference awards, winning MAAC Rookie of the Week and MAAC Offensive Player of the Week four times each
• Was the highest scoring freshman in the NCAA in the regular season
• Scored three-or-more goals on 12 occasions
• Set a career-high with seven points (5G, 2A) versus Eastern Michigan (Feb. 18)
 
Charlotte Keenan – Cross Country/Track
• Made her collegiate debut at the Akron AI Campbell Invitational (Jan. 16).
• Broke the indoor school record in the 60-meter at the SPIRE Collegiate Indoor Games with her time of 8.14 (Feb. 14).
• Placed just off the podium, finishing fourth in the 400-meter at the SPIRE Collegiate Indoor Games, finishing in 1:00.68.
• Turned in three top-five finishes at the Cardinal Classic, placing fifth in the 100-meter (12.95), followed by a third-place finish in the 200-meter (25.97).
• The freshman capped off the Cardinal Classic, collecting her first collegiate win in the 400-meter with her time of 58.96 (April 25).
• Posted the team's fastest times in the 100-meter, 200-meter and 400-meter for the Griffs during her freshman campaign.
  
Jaslynn Kural – Acrobatics and Tumbling
• Appeared in all six competitions
• Recognized as an NCATA Rookie of the Week Honorable Mention with scores of 9.65/10 (compulsory), 9.45/9.7 (5L Acro) 9.35/9.7 (inversion pyramid) and 8.95/9 (toss) at West Liberty (March 4)
 
Chloe Tseros – Women's Soccer
• Started all 19 games in goal
• Played 1,742 minutes, the most by a freshman keeper in program history and third most among all goalkeepers
• Ranked among the top 10 keepers in the MAAC in goals against average (1.39/7th), save percentage (.748/9th), saves per game (4.21/5th) and shutouts (5/5th)
• Made collegiate debut versus Buffalo, recording season-high nine saves (Aug. 14)
• Posted first career shutout with two-save performance at Rider (Sept. 20)
• Stopped all six shots faced in scoreless draw versus Siena (Oct. 8)
• Tallied three stops in 1-0 shutout of Marist in MAAC First-Round matchup (Nov. 2)
• Turned aside all three shots faced in 0-0 draw against Sacred Heart in MAAC Championship game (Nov. 9)
 
The Canisius Male Athlete of the Year finalists will be announced on June 15.
