Rowing Collect Wins at Duquesne Invitational

The Canisius rowing team collected wins over a four-team field Saturday at the Duquesne Invitational on the Alleghany River in Pittsburgh, Pa.

The field consisted of host Duquesne, West Virginia, Robert Morris and Toledo in a series of four-minute pieces.

In the Varsity 8+, the Golden Griffins scored wins against West Virginia, Robert Morris, and Toledo and came up just short against host Duquesne.

In the Second Varsity 8+, the Griffs were leading the charge on the first piece until an equipment failure caused two-seat's oar to come loose from its oarlock, leading to a slip to third place. In the second race, the Blue and Gold finished in third on pieces two and three before rallying to win the last piece, beating the entire field.

In the Varsity 4+, the Griffs placed consistently across all pieces behind Duquesne and West Virginia, beating Robert Morris and Toledo.
