Leslie Nets Two Goals as Men’s Soccer Earns Draw at Cleveland State

Freshman Gabriel Leslie scored twice as Canisius rallied from a two-goal deficit to earn a 2–2 draw against Cleveland State in men's collegiate soccer action Saturday at Krenzler Field in Cleveland, Ohio.

Graduate Dom Dominguez got the nod in goal for Canisius (1-2-1), making five saves.

The Vikings (0-2-2) opened the scoring in the second minute as Uzman Ramees delivered a cross into the box that found Matteo Correia, who set up Peleg Armendariz for a header into the top-left corner.

The Vikings doubled their lead in the 19th minute when reigning Horizon League Freshman of the Year Matteo Correia slipped behind the Canisius back line and slotted the ball into an open net after Dominguez was unable to get a hand on it.

The Griffs cut the deficit in half in the 44th minute as a pass from sophomore Romero Nicolazzo found Leslie, who fired a shot from the top of the box to beat Ryan Poling and cut the Vikings' lead in half.

Leslie brought Canisius level early in the second half, scoring for the second time in the 48th minute after a long pass from junior Gianni Angaran found him streaking down the pitch. In a one-on-one with CSU keeper Ryan Poling, he slotted the ball home, propelling the Griffs to the 2-2 draw.
