Finalists for 2024-25 Canisius Female Rookie of the Year Revealed

The finalists for the 2024-25 Canisius Female Rookie of the Year have been announced. Fans are encouraged to vote for their favorite finalist through 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 5. The winner will be announced on Friday, June 6.
 
In alphabetical order, the finalists are:
 
Katie Adams – Women's Lacrosse
• Selected to All-MAAC Rookie Team
• Played in all 16 games, making 12 starts
• Totaled 23 goals and three assists for 26 points
• Notched season-high five goals against Central Michigan (March 12)
• Recorded a hat trick versus Mount St. Mary's (March 22)
• Tallied hat tricks in back-to-back games at Rider (April 12) and at Quinnipiac (April 16)
 
Cara Edwards – Softball
• MAAC All-Rookie Team selection
• Hit .288 with six home runs, a double, 18 runs scored and 14 RBI in 44 games
• Ranked second on the squad with a 0.977 OPS while her .525 slugging percentage placed her fifth on the squad
• Led the team with 24 walks drawn
• Posted five multi-hit games
• Drove in a season-high four runs in a victory over Saint Peter's on April 15. • Was behind the dish for the Griffs in all 17 games won by sophomore pitcher Olivia Manchester 
 
Ella Krumpek – Cross Country/Track
• Named to MAAC All-Rookie Team after finishing with a career-best 6k time of 21:53.5 in the 2024 MAAC Championships (Nov. 2)
• Finished second in her collegiate debut in the Little Three Championships with a time of 18:31.8 (Sept. 6)
• Ran career-best 5k time in the Canisius Alumni Classic, placing fourth and crossing the line in 17:58.8 (Oct. 19)
• Placed ninth and posted a PR in the 3000-meter race at the YSU Mid Major Invitational with a time of 10:41.19 (Feb. 1)
• Ran a PR in the mile at the SPIRE Collegiate Indoor Games, crossing the line in 5:25.10 (Feb. 15)
• Posted a PR in the 800-meter race at the SPIRE Collegiate Indoor Games with a time of 2:23.04 (Feb. 15)
 
Daphne Mead – Women's Swimming and Diving
• MAAC Championships Co-Rookie of the Meet
• Competed in all nine meets, including the MAAC Championships
• Two-time MAAC swimmer of the week (Oct. 30 and Nov. 6)
• Three-time individual A finalist at the MAAC Championships in the 200 and 400 IM and 200 back. Placed fourth in both the 200 IM and 200 back and earned a bronze medal in the 400 IM
• Earned a bronze medal with a third-place result in the 800 free relay at the MAAC Championships
• Set program records in the 200 back (2:02.13), 400 IM (4:23.71), 400 medley relay and 800 free relay

Tabitha von Kolen – Softball
• MAAC Rookie of the Year
• All-MAAC First Team selection
• MAAC All-Rookie Team honoree
• Ranked second on the squad with a .366 batting average
• Posted 60 hits, seven doubles, six triples, 38 runs scored and 18 runs batted in
• Led the team and ranked second in the MAAC with 22 stolen bases
• Recorded 18 multi-hit games, highlighted by her five-hit performance against Quinnipiac on April 9, an effort that made her one of just 22 players in the NCAA this season to record five-or more hits in a single game
