Siena Spoils Men's Lacrosse Senior Day with Second-Half Surge

Siena scored the final six goals of the game to break a 10-10 tie and defeat Canisius, 16-10, in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference men's lacrosse action Saturday at the Demske Sports Complex.

Pratt Reynolds scored six goals and Travis Fry finished with a hat trick and three assists to pace the Saints (8-4, 6-1 MAAC), who moved into a tie with Sacred Heart for first place in the league standings with the win. Patrick Radomski and Conor Hufnagel also pitched in hat tricks while Radomski also chipped in a pair of helpers.

Senior TJ Buono tallied a career-high four goals for the Golden Griffins (6-9, 6-2 MAAC), who saw their three-game winning streak halted. Sophomore Jordan Reed chipped in three points on two goals and an assist while senior Jaxon Fridge (1g, 1a) and sophomore Mason Wolford (2a) also finished with two points each. Junior Micah Hanson went 17-of-29 at the faceoff "X" and scooped up a game-high 10 ground balls.

Siena's decisive surge capped a second-half comeback that saw the Saints rally from a 9-7 deficit after junior Kaiden Libby recorded his first goal of the season less than two minutes into the third quarter to open the second-half scoring.

Radomski ignited the Siena comeback, rattling off a natural hat trick to give the Saints a 10-9 edge with 11:26 to play in the fourth.

Buono answered back for the Griffs less than a minute later to knot the score at 10-10, but Reynolds restored the Saints advantage just 65 seconds later, kickstarting the final Siena run that saw Fry record a hat trick to secure the win for the Saints.

Earlier in the contest, Canisius jumped out to a 5-1 lead before Siena notched six of the next seven goals to pull in front, 7-6, midway through the second quarter.

The Griffs battled back, recording the final two goals of the first half to retake the lead and registered the first goal of the second half from the stick of Libby to build a two-goal cushion, setting the stage for Saints second-half surge.
