Junior Bailey Alatorre hit a two-run homer in the fifth and sophomore Olivia Manchester fanned five en route to her team-leading fifth victory of the season, as the Canisius softball team closed out its weekend road trip to Baltimore, Md., with a 5-4 victory over Colgate in the final game of the UMBC Spring Invite Sunday afternoon.

COLGATE RECAP
With the game tied 1-1 heading into the bottom of the fifth, the Griffs broke the contest open with a four-run inning, highlighted by Alatorre's two-run shot. Canisius took a 2-1 lead over the Raiders after Gabi Farris singled through the right side of the infield to dive in teammate Tabitha von Kolen, and then the Griffs took a 3-1 advantage after sophomore Ella Johel scored on a ground-out by senior Rosie Gomez. With a runner on and two outs, Alatorre took Colgate pitcher Meya Servadio deep over the fence in left center to give the Blue and Gold a 5-1 lead.
Colgate cut Canisius' lead to 5-2 with a single run in the sixth and then scored two more times in the seventh to make the score 5-4 in favor of Canisius. The Raiders had the game-tying run on third base with two outs in that inning, but Manchester induced a ground-ball out to end the Colgate scoring threat and the contest.
Manchester earned her team-leading fifth win of the season after she went the distanced and allowed four runs on seven hits. Servadio took the loss after she gave up five runs on nine hits while striking out four and walking no one.
Five different Griffs recorded multiple hits in the win, led by freshman Cara Edwards, who had three base knocks in the victory. Senior Emily Illano had two hits, including a double.
LEHIGH RECAP
Lehigh scored a pair of runs in the second and then Rory Dudley hit a two-run homer in the third to give the Mountain Hawks a 4-0 lead after three innings of play. Canisius rallied for a pair of runs in the top-half of the seventh, but came up short, falling to Lehigh, 4-2.
Alatorre led off the seventh inning with a solo homer to the gap in left center to make the score 4-1. With two outs in the frame, senior Hanna Hagerman drew a walk, and she eventually came around to score on a Lehigh throwing after after Johel extended the rally with a base hit. However, Lehigh's Chloe Hess got a fly-ball out to end the Griffs' comeback effort.
Hess earned the win in the circle for the Mountain Hawks after she allowed two runs on eight hits to go with five strikeouts. Canisius freshman Mikaila Obenrader took the loss after she gave up four runs, two earned, on five hits. She also stuck out one and walked four.
Gomez and Farris each went 2-for-3 in the game against Lehigh, with Gomez recording a double. Hagerman also had a double in the losing effort.
