Late Goal Dooms Men’s Lacrosse Versus Le Moyne

Thomas Berry scored with 1:16 remaining in the fourth quarter to lift Le Moyne to an 11-10 victory over Canisius in collegiate men's lacrosse action Tuesday at the Pinnacle Athletic Campus in Victor, N.Y.

Owen Wilson recorded three goals and added an assist for the Dolphins, who were victorious in their 2025 debut. Berry pitched in two goals and an assist while Olin Stanat finished with a goal and two assists.

Freshman Carson Christy notched four goals to pace the Golden Griffins (0-3). Sophomore Mason Wolford recorded two goals and an assist while three players – seniors Patrick Mitchell and Jaxon Fridge and sophomore Jordan Reed – notched a goal and an assist apiece. Junior Micah Hanson went 14-for-25 at the face-off X and scooped up five ground balls.

Berry's game-winning goal spoiled Canisius' comeback attack as the Griffs trailed 9-5 early in the fourth quarter before rattling off four unanswered goals over a three-minute span to knot the score at 9-9 with a little more than five minutes to play in regulation.

The teams traded tallies over the next four minutes before Berry put the Dolphins in front with a shot from the right side with 76 seconds to play.

Le Moyne won the ensuing faceoff and held the ball until the Griffs were able to force a turnover with 15 seconds remaining. Canisius got the ball downfield and called a timeout but were unable to get a shot towards the goal before the final buzzer, allowing the Dolphins to hold on for the one-goal victory.

Earlier in the contest, Canisius trailed 4-1 early in the second quarter before using tallies from Mitchell, Christy and Wolford over a five-minute span to tie the game at 4-4.

The Dolphins answered back moments later, notching two goals in a 12-second span to take 6-4 lead into the locker room.

Le Moyne opened the second half with three of the first four goals of the stanza to take its largest lead of the game, 9-5, with 9:12 to play, setting the stage for the game's frantic final minutes.
