• The Start
The Canisius softball program begins the 2024 campaign at the Charlotte Invitational in Charlotte, N.C. The Golden Griffins will face host Charlotte, Boston University and Queens, Feb. 16-20. The Griffs then square off with Queens in a single game on Feb. 19 in a doubleheader on Feb. 20 against George Washington with first pitch of game one slated for 2 p.m.

• Series History
Canisius will participate in the Charlotte Invitational for the first time. The Griffs are sitting at 2-3 against the 49ers. The two teams last played in a doubleheader in 2019, Canisius took the first game 8-4 in 8 innings while Charlotte took game two 4-3.

Canisius will face Boston University for just the second straight season. Last season the two teams split their games with BU taking the first game 9-3 and the Golden Griffins taking the second matchup 6-5 in 9 innings.

The Griffs will then take on Queens to round out the tournament before playing a single game against the Royals on Monday. This is the first time that the two teams will face off against each other.

Finally, Canisius will play a double-header against George Washington on Tuesday. The Colonials hold a 4-2 series lead over the Griffs. With the last matchup coming in 2019 that saw the Golden Griffins fall 13-5 in 5 innings.

• Welcome Back
Canisius returns 16 players from last year's MAAC Championship roster. The roster features reigning MAAC Pitcher of the Year Megan Giese and All-MAAC first team members Christie McGee-Ross, Gianna Fazzolari and Rosie Gomez The Griffs return 71.7 pct. of the team's hits (273) and 72.4 pct. of the innings pitched (232.1).

• New Faces
Canisius has six newcomers including five freshmen on the 2024 roster. There are two infielders, one outfielder and three.

The Griffs have one transfer with infielder Dani Stefanie coming in from Genesee Community College.

• Down to Kentucky
Following the seven-game trip in North Carolina and Virginia, the Blue and Gold will have the week off before traveling to Richmond, KY, to take part in the EKU Colonel Classic. The Griffs will face host Eastern Kentucky, Ball State and Purdue Fort Wayne, beginning on March 1 against Ball State and Eastern Kentucky.
