Men’s Soccer 2023 Schedule Unveiled

Canisius head men's soccer coach Michael Tanke revealed the 2023 schedule on Wednesday, an 18-game slate that features an even mix of nine home matches and nine road contests.

The Golden Griffins are slated to play eight non-conference games and 10 league matches during the upcoming campaign.

Canisius will take part in a pair of exhibition contests during the preseason, traveling to defending national champion Syracuse (Aug. 12) before hosting crosstown rival Daemen (Aug. 20).

The regular season gets underway with a visit to St. Francis (Pa.) (Aug. 24). The home opener for Tanke's squad will take place against Cleveland State (Aug. 28).

September gets underway with road tilts at Stonehill (Sept. 1) and Central Connecticut State (Sept. 4). The Griffs are then home for a pair of non-league matchups versus in-state foes Cornell (Sept. 9) and Binghamton (Sept. 13) before opening Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play at Manhattan (Sept. 16)

A visit to Little Three foe St. Bonaventure (Sept. 20) follows the league opener against the Jaspers. The Griffs will entertain defending league champion Quinnipiac (Sept. 23) and Division I newcomer Le Moyne (Sept. 27) at the Demske Sports Complex before closing out the month of September with a trip to Iona (Sept. 30).

October kicks off with a home match against Fairfield (Oct. 7) and continues with road tests at Siena (Oct. 11) and Mount St. Mary's (Oct. 14). Canisius completes the regular season with three of its final four games at home, hosting Rider (Oct. 18), Marist (Oct. 21) and Saint Peter's (Oct. 28) while traveling to Battle of the Bridge rival Niagara (Oct. 25).

The 2023 MAAC Men's Soccer Championship will feature six teams. The tournament begins with the first round on Nov. 5 and continues on Nov. 9 with semifinal-round action. The championship final will be played on Nov. 12, with the winner of that match receiving the league's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

All three rounds of the MAAC Championship will be played at on-campus locations.
