Brace Welcomes Tony Brach to Rowing Staff

Canisius rowing head coach Kerri Brace announced the addition of Tony Brach to her staff as a volunteer assistant coach ahead of the 2023-24 season.

"We're thrilled to have Tony join us on staff this year" Brace said. "Some of the girls were lucky enough to row for Tony over the summer at West Side and we saw what an impact he made on them. I look forward to having the four of us on staff together to continue our quest towards the medal stand this Spring."

A member of the West Side Rowing Club Board of Directors, Brach most recently coached the club's U23 women's team to the V8 and V4 finals at the Royal Canadian Henley Regatta this summer. Brach also led the women's U17 8 and 4 shells to the finals at Henley from 2016-19 and took gold with the Men's U23 Light 4 boat in 2008. He also went undefeated to earn the gold with the men's U23 light eight in 2006.

Prior to coaching at West Side, Brach was the head coach at Saint Joe's Collegiate Institute from 1996-2006 where he won multiple state championships and two CSSRA Golds with the Marauders. He also coached the University at Buffalo club team in 1994, taking the V4 and Light 4 shells to the semi-finals of the prestigious Dad Vail Regatta.

During his collegiate career, Brach rowed at Northeastern from 1991-94. With the Huskies, he earned medals in the 1991 Club 8 championship and 1992 Championship 8 at the Head of the Charles and earned bronze at the 1993 Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships with the V8 shell.
