Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Shutout by Duquesne

Maxi Hopfer factored in all four of Duquesne's goals as the Dukes shutout Canisius, 4-0, behind a six-save clean sheet by Domenic Nascimben in non-conference men's soccer action from Rooney Field in downtown Pittsburgh.

Hopfer's first assist came in the 27th minute as he set up Nate Dragisich for the opening tally. Hopfer used his right foot to push the ball ahead of a Canisius defender and Dragisich was able to kick the ball into the short side of the net.

The latter assist for Hopfer occurred in the 50th minute as he centered a pass right to Zach Mowka, who one-timed his shot past Canisius goalkeeper William Howard.

Seven minutes after Mowka's goal, he set up Hopfer using a tic-tac-toe passing sequence, giving Hopfer his first of two goals on the evening.

A Canisius handball inside the 18-yard box led to a Duquesne penalty kick in the 63rd minute. The Dukes elected Hopfer to take the penalty and he was able to beat Howard, netting his second unanswered goal.

Duquesne peppered Canisius all game long with shots, mustering 22 shot attempts.

Howard made six saves for the Griffs, as he was making his third consecutive start in goal.

Canisius had four shots on goal in the opening half, two of which came off the foot of Jonny Tekie.

Canisius had two prime scoring chances in the opening 45 minutes, highlighted by a pair of headers.

In the 14th minute, Dylan Rice's corner was headed on goal by Luke Szablewski, but Nascimben punched the ball over the crossbar.

Alex Cadena Jr.'s cross sent nearly inside the 8-yard box was headed by Lachlan Beever in the 29th minute and Nascimben, again, redirected the ball over the crossbar.

Adam Grover, who made his collegiate debut, and Alessandro Fabiano recorded the Griffs' shots on goal in the second half.
