Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Defeated by Northern Kentucky Sunday

Northern Kentucky used goals from Connor Probert and Alex Willis, along with an eight-save effort from Baj Maan, to post a 2-0 victory over Canisius in collegiate men's soccer action Sunday at the Demske Sports Complex in downtown Buffalo.

Probert opened the scoring late in the first half and Willis added an insurance marker with a little more than 10 minutes remaining to propel the Norse (1-2-1) to their first victory of the 2019 season. Freshman Fabio D'Errico made five saves in goal for the Golden Griffins (1-2-0).

In a back-and-forth first half that saw quality chances for both sides, Probert staked NKU to a 1-0 lead in the 33rd minute as he raced down the left side deep into the Canisius end of the field before punching a shot past D'Errico into the lower right-hand corner of the net for his first of the campaign.

Willis doubled the Norse advantage at the 78:38 mark of the contest, tapping home a feed from Brodie Sallows into an empty cage moments after an NKU cross to the left side of the box drew D'Errico away from the goal.

Head Coach Dermot McGrane's Postgame Comments
