Goals from junior Shauna Lee and sophomore Alicia Larsson Vahlberg gave the Canisius women's soccer team a 2-1 victory over Manhattan Saturday afternoon at Gaelic Park.

With the win, the Golden Griffins move to 6-3-0 (1-1-0 MAAC) on the season while the Jaspers fall to 1-7-0 (0-1-0 MAAC) with the loss.

Lee opened the scoring less than 10 minutes into the contest with a header off a corner kick by freshman Lexi Perry. Shortly before the half ended, Manhattan's Eve Montgomery tied the game at 1-1 .

Despite notable scoring chances from both sides throughout the second half, it was not until the 81st minute when Larsson Vahlberg broke the tie to give the Griffs the win. Manhattan out-shot Canisius, 10-6, in the victory.

Canisius senior goalkeeper Alana Rossi recorded three saves in the victory. Manhattan goalie Camryn Nici made two saves in the loss.

Head Coach Todd Clark's Postgame Comments
"Today was a really great team effort to get an important win. Although our goals came from our starters, our bench was incredible again today. From important subs to an incredible effort to support one another vocally, the team won today together as any coach, fan or player should be proud of."
