Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Falls to Cornell on Saturday

Harry Fuller scored both goals and Ryan Shellow recorded four saves to lead Cornell to a 2-0 victory over Canisius in collegiate men's soccer action Saturday at the Demske Sports Complex in downtown Buffalo.

Fuller recorded a penalty-kick goal in the 29th minute and added an insurance marker in the 47th minute to propel the Big Red to its third victory of the season (3-2-0). Freshman keeper Fabio D'Errico made four saves in goal for the Golden Griffins (1-5-0).

Fuller opened the scoring at the 28:43 mark of the contest when he beat D'Errico with a shot into the lower left-hand corner of the net after Cornell was awarded a penalty kick following a foul on Big Red midfielder John Scearce inside the box.

Fuller doubled the Cornell cushion less than three minutes into the second half, collecting a feed from George Pedlow in the middle of the box before placing a shot into the upper right-hand corner of the cage for his third of the campaign.

Canisius had a chance to cut into its deficit in the 57th minute when it was awarded a penalty kick after Cornell was whistled for a handball inside the box. Senior Troy Brady took the kick for Canisius, but his attempt to the right side was turned aside by a diving Shellow.

Head Coach Dermot McGrane's Postgame Comments
"Cornell is a very good team and I thought overall the game was fairly even. The biggest difference in the game was that Cornell scored on a couple of chances they created and we didn't.  Our young team is trying to learn from every game we play and there are many positive things we can take away from the game other than the final result."
