Game Recap
A strong second half, highlighted by a 7-0 run propelled Manhattan to a 15-10 victory over Canisius in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference women's lacrosse action Friday morning in Riverdale, N.Y.

The Jaspers (6-3, 1-0 MAAC) were led by seven goals from Alaina Burgess, while teammate Molly Fitzpatrick recorded a natural hat trick in the win. In her first game back since the Griffs contest with Northwestern, graduate student Jen Reininger scored twice on five shot attempts and also added an assist. Junior Bryar Cummings recorded four points (two goals, two assists) in the loss. Sophomore Rachel Ryan, freshmen Katie Smolensky and Megan Hoffman added one goal each for the Griffs.

Freshman goalie Shannon Maroney started her fifth game inbetween the pipes for Canisius, making seven saves on the day.

Canisius and Manhattan traded goals throughout the first half, with the Griffs getting the largest lead of the stanza, 4-2, following a free-position goal from Cummings. Manhattan scored three straight goals to take a 5-4 lead before Reininger got one past the Jasper goalie to make it 5-5 at the break.

The Blue and Gold outscored Manhattan 5-3 in the first 12 minutes of the second half, highlighted by back-to-back goals in less than 30-seconds from Roemer. The Jaspers scored back-to-back free position goals to tie the game at 10-10. From there, Manhattan would score five more unanswered goals to give the game its final tally, 15-10.

Head Coach Allison Daley Postgame Comments
"We competed well for 40 minutes of today's game. When a game is 60 minutes long you cannot only compete for 40 minutes and that made a huge difference today. Give credit to Manhattan, they played a strong game and capitalized on our missed opportunities that sparked their run. Overall we need to be willing to come out and work for a full 60."
