The Griffs got on the board first Friday as Roemer found the back of the net two and a half minutes into the competition. However, James Madison wouldn't take long to respond as two minutes later Logan Brennan got one passed Canisius net-minder Lauren Gilbert to tie the game at one.

James Madison then rolled off 10 more unanswered goals, highlighted by Duenkel's three to give her the first half hat trick. The Dukes took a commanding 13-1 lead into the locker room as the Griffs were unable to slow down JMU in the opening 30 minutes.

James Madison didn't let up the second frame as it scored the first two goals of the half to extend its lead to 15-1 with over 20 minutes left. Canisius would get one back as Miranda Malvaso scored at the 20:55 mark, followed by two more goals from the Dukes. Her sister, Marissa scored on a free-position attempt making the score 17-3. After the Dukes scored their final four goals of the season, Roemer added one more for Canisius to give us the final score, 21-4.
