Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Falls to Buffalo, 2-1

Canisius junior Madeline Beaulieu scored her third goal of the season in the 56th minute, but it wasn't enough to catch up to host Buffalo, who earned a 2-1 win Thursday at UB stadium.

With the loss, the Golden Griffins fell to 2-2-1 on the season. The Bulls improved to 4-1-0 with the win.

In the 26th minute, junior Gurjeena Jandu booted a corner kick that deflected off of freshman Tess Ford and into the goal to give Buffalo a 1-0 lead.

The Bulls added to their advantage in the 35th minute when senior Carissima Cutrona crossed the ball down the center of the field to junior Adrianna VanCuyck, who blasted the ball into the center of the net.

Beaulieu put the Griffs on the board in the 56th minute off of a cross from senior Paige Buscaglia to make it a 2-1 contest. The lone goal for the Griffs was her third of the season and the fifth of her career.

Canisius junior goalkeeper Alana Rossi was credited with seven saves while UB keeper Emily Kelly finished with three saves.

The Bulls out shot the Blue and Gold, 18-7, and led the Griffs, 9-4, in shots on goal.

Head Coach Todd Clark's Postgame Comments
"
Buffalo is  4-1 for a reason. They got out there and took care of the little things on the field and we let the little things slide. We are going to have to refocus and reset as we prepare to host Cleveland State on Sunday. "

Game Notes
• Thursday's contest served as the 43rd all-time meeting between the two schools.
• The win increased Buffalo's lead in the all-time series to 28-11-4.
• Rossi's seven saves ties her career high that she set on Aug. 21, 2016 in a match against Kent State.
