Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Defeats Manhattan, 1-0

Canisius senior Emily Czechowski scored her first goal of the season in the 61st minute to help lead the Blue and Gold to a 1-0 win over Manhattan Saturday afternoon at the Demske Sports Complex in Buffalo, N.Y.

With the win, the Golden Griffins improve to 4-3-1 on the season and 1-1-0 in MAAC play. The Jaspers fell to 1-4-2 and 0-1-1 in league action with the loss.

Czechowski put the Griffs on the board in the game's 61st minute. Her first marker of the season came off an assist from fellow senior Melanie Linsmair. Czechowski's goal stands as the fourth of her career, while the assist for Linsmair marks her second assist of the 2018 season and third in her career.

Canisius junior goalkeeper Alana Rossi was credited with two saves en route to her third shutout of the 2018 campaign. With the shutout on Saturday, Rossi moved past former Griff goalkeeper Debbie Besant for first all-time in career shutouts with 17.

Manhattan keeper Camryn Nici made one save for the Jaspers before she was replaced by Olivia Printy in the second half. Printy was credited with five saves in relief of the Jaspers' starter in goal.

The Griffs out-shot the Jaspers 12-8 for the match and held a 7-2 advantage in shots on goal. Canisius also held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks for the contest.
