AMES, Iowa – The business end of the outdoor track and field season begins this weekend for the Iowa State track and field squad at the 2017 Big 12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships. This year's host is the University of Kansas with competition taking place at Rock Chalk Park.

Competition begins on Friday with the multi-events at 11 a.m. and the field events at 1 p.m. Under the lights will be the women's and men's 10,000s, which will begin Friday night at 8:15 p.m. Saturday action starts with the multi-events at 10 a.m., field events at 3 p.m. and running preliminaries at 4 p.m., with the steeplechase finals closing out the evening. Sunday competition starts in the field at 2:30 p.m., with running event finals starting at 5 p.m.

All-sessions and single-day tickets for the Big 12 Championships are currently available to purchase online via Kansas, here. All competition will be streamed live on FloTrack via its subscription-based FloPro service. For more information, click here. Live results will be provided by Delta Timing, here.

The longer distances will present the ISU men with their best opportunity at a conference championship. Jaymes Dennison got a league crown indoors in the 600-yard run, and he comes into the weekend ranked No. 2 in the Big 12 in the 800-meter run at 1:47.63. Teammate Roshon Roomes is No. 4 in the conference at the half-mile in 1:47.69. The Cyclones have also loaded up the 5,000 and 10,000-meter runs. Andrew Jordan is No. 2 in the Big 12 at 5K in 13:55.12, while Thomas Pollard is No. 4 at 14:02.48, and is entered in the 10,000, which he has not run since representing the USA in the event at the U-20 World Championships last summer.

On the women's side, Jhoanmy Luque swept the indoor long jump and triple jump in February, but will face some stiffer competition this weekend. She is ranked No. 8 in the league in the long jump, and No. 6 in the triple jump. ISU has the No. 2 and No. 3 ranked student-athletes in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in Kelly Naumann and Grace Gibbons, respectively. Naumann ran a career-best 10:21.45 at the Drake Relays two weeks ago.
