Softball Ends Spring Break With Split

The Canisius softball team closed out its Spring Break trip to Florida on Saturday with a split, as the Golden Griffins earned a 2-1 win over Drexel before getting beat by FGCU 8-0 in six innings. Canisius is now 11-13 on the year.

Sophomore Lauren Castro earned the win for the Blue and Gold in the circle after she allowed one run on five hits to go with two strikeouts in four innings. Junior Madi Weathers came on in relief and pitched a scoreless three innings to secure her third save of the year.

Kreimann and sophomore Denver Keller each had two hits in the win for Canisius, while Sharkey was credited with her fifth stolen base of the season in the victory.

In the nightcap, the host FGCU Eagles took advantage of five Canisius errors to post an 8-0 win in six innings. FGCU (16-13) scored four times in the first and then added single runs in the second and fifth thanks to Canisius errors.
The Griffs had four hits in the game, all singles.
